Damp patch on wall by front door

Hello anybody have any idea where/why we have this damp patch to the left of our front door? After rainfall it always appears. House is 1930s semi.

Most likely a roof issue or a leak around the door frame. Is there a front porch or eave over the front door?

Hi thanks for your reply no, no porch. There used to be the porch but the previous owners took it away so the hall was longer. If its a leak from the roof how could I identify this?

Is it a one or two storey house? The first thing I'd check is the gutters. If those are backing up during a rainfall, the overflow water might be finding a way into the house

Two storey. Thanks for your advice, I will check the gutters and keep my fingers crossed I can locate the problem!!!
