Hello,

We need to cut some skirting boards and have borrowed a magic mitre off a friend. However, the skirting boards we need to cut are wider (170mm) than the magic mitre can cut. Other than employing a joiner to cut them professionally are there any other work around people can suggest. We are only doing a small toilet room so only four boards need cutting. I’ve searched for Mitre Boxes online, with the aim to buy one, but none cover a 170mm width. Any suggestions/ideas would be welcome. Thanks. Alex

Hi and welcome.

Why not use an ordinary crosscut saw?

It's just a case of marking it off with a square and taking your time. You can sand the edges afterwards.

You'll have a hard job finding a joiner to do this for you, it's such a small job.

Is there a woodyard near you?

If you send the missus to smile and talk nicely to them, they might oblige.
