Hi

Hope someone can help. I have a combi boiler which at present only supplies hot water (central heating to be installed at a later date) As the cold water tank in the loft has sprung a leak I'm intending to connect all cold water to the mains, near to where the water tank pipes are currently situated.

My question is, as the bath has a shower mixer tap would fitting a check valve to the hot water pipe protect the boiler from any backflow due to the pressure from the cold water system.

Thanks any help would be appreciated

Combi Boilers work at around 1.5 to 2.0 Bar pressure. ( See Handbook )You can remove the Cold Tank alltogether as the Hot and Cold will be supplied through the Boiler and no tanks are required. The Shower Mixer should work fine.
