bracing floor joists

I am laying a floor in the loft to support a cloakroom (wc and basin). Presently the loft is boarded for storage. The span of the house is 18' (5.4m). There is one 7'' X 2.5'' joist running the span (18') of the house which has sagged about 4cm in the centre. I want to run 6''X2'' joists from the 7X2.5 joist to the wall of the house, which is a distance of 2.25m (7.5'). Would it be a good idea to first brace the 7X2.5'' joist with timber using glue and bolts?

Or should I run joists the 18' width of the house? If I did that I would have to make up the lengths in situ by bolting two shorter lengths together. Thanks for any opinions on the matter.

Better to put in extra support now rather than fin out later that you need it. Under a tub, I would think you would need it.
