The lock nut on my p-trap has cracked, and leaks. It's been there since 1993.
Threads on the p-traps today do not fit it. What do I mean?
The pipe comes out of the wall, and a downward bend is glued onto it. The current p-trap screws onto that, but not the new p-traps.
I think I have to cut the downward bend off, and glue on an ABS Drain Stub out, which will have standardized threads.
My question is, are those threads on the "drain stub out" standardized to the lock nuts?
The other thing I'm thinking, so it will definitely not be an issue in the future, is to use the rubber coupler, that secures to both pipes with worm gear clamps.
