Hey there. Anyone out there have experience with evaluating cracks in walls? Does this look like a crack due to settling or weather damage or does it look like it might more have to do with larger structural issues? A neighboring wall has a little water damage.

Before a determination as to the cause can be made, you must know what kind of lath it is built on. If it is an old style wood lath, the wood may be rotting. One word of advice - I wouldn’t patch it, I would knock it out and completely replace it. That way you can see what is going on under there.
