WMA35 conditioner dispenser

Our Hotpoint WMA35 does not empty the conditioner dispenser. The other bits of the dispenser work (pre-wash and main detergent), I have checked the conditioner syphon (the tube that sticks up in the conditioner compartment) and have cleared the water inlet above the compartment. I can only conclude that water is not being switched into this bit of the dispenser. There doesn't seem to be a sepatrate water valve to select water into this bit of the dispenser so I can't understand how this is supposed to work. My wife says the conditioner only empties sometimes, so I'm puzzled.

Any ideas how to fix this anyone?
