Undermount Sink with Plywood Substrate

I'm putting new Formica on my kitchen countertop and I want to install and undermount sink. That of course will leave the edge of the substrate--ply or chipboard--exposed to water. Unless, that is, I can effectively seal it. Surely by now there is an epoxy, fiberglass or other sealant that will do the job--isn't there? Any help/ideas will be much appreciated.

Idea? = DON’T. The sink on the bottom is great with granite. There is a reason that sinks have been mounted on top for decades.
