I recently replaced my existing deck decking, replacing +20 year old cedar 2X6 with Trex Transcend ($3,900) This is a premium product from the company. However when laying the deck it was clear not all the products were the same width (51/2 inches). In trying to keep the uniform gapping between boards of 1/4 inch it came to my attention.
Response from Trex was "There is an allowable tolerance on all products, even standard pressure treated boards." Ok I would expect this from pressure treated lumber but not from trex.
Any other experiences?
They will void there warranty for the slightest devaiation in installation. But they have no standards by which they manufacture by? I bought at a local lumber yard to avoid the big box store issues but appear to have been sold "seconds"
