I have got to remove silicon rubber beading as used as putty holding down 1/4 “ glass, 6 panels in a skylight, and replace back after re felting roof round the frame, any ideas. WD 40, and some other chemicals suggested that I could try, but someone may have done this and know which.

I've never attempted to disolve silicone.
If it were possible, I would guess the mess it would make would be far worse a problem than cutting it all out with a Stanley knife or whatever.
