Hi
I’m about to lay a new patio in a house we’ve not long moved into.
My plan was to remove the existing pavers, which are both level and sturdy, remove any mortar and check whether a layer of hardcore is needed. Then relay the new pavers on a 2 inch mortar mix 5/1.
I’ve started removing the current pavers and it appears that they’ve been laid onto a compacted layer of building sand on top of a decent layer of hardcore. Seems like the previous owners did it properly.
My question is:
Can I reuse the layer of building sand for my new mortar mix? Seems a costly waste to throw it away and replace with new.
thanks
