Recessed Downlights

I am really struggling to figure out how many spotlights I will need for my living room.

I will be installing 240v mains downlight (50w)

Room size is 3.37m x 4.50m.
Height is low at 2.40m.

Does anyone know how many will be best and in what configuration?

Not an easy one to answer, so this is just my opinion. In a room of that size, I would go for 6, and probably fit a dimmer switch that will take 300 watts.
Have you considered fitting the LED versions though. Although they can't all be dimmed, there would be a considerable power saving.
