I am about to have a garage constructed, 6 Metres. X 5.5 Metres. Pitched roof height 3.8 Metres. Walls 2.5 metres high. Are piers/pillars necessary where brick walls will be 9 inches (215 mm) thick?.

If so, at what distances, please.

Thank you.

Here are a couple pictures of my new garage. It is built on original grade (no fill) soil. The footer under the bricks is 24” thick. There are 8 layers of bricks. Each corner has a poured piling approximately 1 meter x 1 meter x 1 meter. The foundation is much stronger than what the builder wanted to make but I had a consulting architect design the base and I told him I wanted it “bulletproof”.
