Hello

These tiles are made from clay. They are marked with minerals from the rain. I’ve tried cleaning them with white spirit: they look clean when wet however when they dry out the mineral stains remain.

Could anyone suggest an effective chemical to clean them? Thank you.

There's no polite way to say this, but they're not 'mineral stains', they're due to excess cement mortar being spread all over the tiles instead if being neatly used to just fill the gaps between the tiles. Quite who did that and why, is anyone's guess, but it's certainly offensive to the eye, and the only way those cement stains can be removed is by using 'brick acid', which is specifically designed to clean cement stains off the surface of brickwork.

Here's an example, which I'm not recommending - I'm simply saying that it's the sort of product required:

Nasty stuff - heed the safety warnings!

Hope that might help.
