Kitchen panel removal

Trying to take off wood panels between kitchen cupboards to paint them but unable to remove them. The attached photo shows how they are fixed at both ends but struggling to move them. Any hints???? Any help would be appreciated.

Also attached two more photos to show fixing and the panel I’m trying to remove. Do I need to take off the cabinet doors before I can remove panel?
