Bought a flipped house
Knew the floor was a hidden event
The living room was hardwood, was hoping it at one
time extended into the kitchen. There is a step up of
about 3/4" from living room to kitchen
As Gomer used to say Surprise Surprise
they laid ceramic clay tile using quickset to level the floor
with embeded wire mess over three layers of linoleum.
Some of the quickset in 3/4" thick.
So now I want to remove the old floor down to the plywood
overlay. I know that because I pulled out the origional wood
cabinets and they were sitting on what looked like ply.
However I tried a sledge hammer and it is doing to much
impack on the wood underlay.
Any ideas on how to DIY this floor removal.
Thanks

Dampen a rag with an ample amount of acetone. Apply the acetone to the back of the tile where the mesh and glue is present. The acetone loosens and breaks down the glue attaching the mesh to the tile.

Scrape the back of the tile with a floor scraper or putty knife to remove the fiberglass mesh and glue.

Wipe the scraped tiles with a clean rag and acetone to remove any remaining glue residue.
