Horstmann Centaurplus c27

I have just tried to replace my old Danfoss Randall 702 programmer with a Horstmann Centaurplus C27, the wiring requires a connection to pin number 2 on the back plate for CH off, The old back plate has no wire going to No 2 pin which is the same CH off but worked O.K can this connection be left off on the new programmer.
