hoover auto real not working

my hoover is a philips 2000w -FC9222 i changed the power lead and know the auto wind real does not work ,how do i fix this?

You can test electrical resistance of your new power lead with multimeter.

You can test electrical resistance of your new power lead with multimeter.

To be pedantic you can test the continuity of your power lead with a multimeter. To test the resistance you would need a milli-ohmeter.

I have always found over the years that the auto reels always end up seizing anyway! Is it possible that the power lead you have replaced the original with isn't as flexible or possibly thicker, maybe both? Did you change anything with the reel?
