I am about to fix the shower cubicle profiles to the wall. I'm not comfortable with using traditional plasterboard fixings for this task in case they work loose with time mainly due to opening/closing the shower door. I am thinking of cutting out horizontal strips (say 60 - 70 mm wide) of plasterboard between the centres of adjacent studs where the screws are to go, then inserting approx 75 x 50 mm between the studs (screwing to them at an angle) to give a good fixing for the shower profiles. I'll make good the slots with pieces of plasterboard cut in before I fit the wetroom wall panels. Hope this makes sense - or am I over-engineering the job and should I just use plasterboard fixings (probably the sprung toggle type) and silicon for additional strength between the profile and wallboard?
