I'd like to buy and install feeder wire for my new 125A subpanel. This is an indoor, above ground installation. The conduit will contain only the circuit that feeds the subpanel and will be protected by a 125A switch. Can anyone advise what gauge THHN wire I should use for the conductors and ground and what conduit size I can put this in. The length of the run is 55 ft. I'm thinking either option below is ok:

Option 1: 1 AWG Cu (3 THHN wires) + 6 AWG Cu (1) EGC
Option 2: 2/0 Al (3 THHN wires) + 4 AWG Al (1) EGC

and conduit size will be 1 1/2''. Like to bounce this off someone though.

Both options (Options 1 & 2) exceed the minimum requirement slightly. You ok with either option there.

Your conduit size is OK for Option 1, that is, 1½". However, is you go with 2/0 Al, the conduit would need to be 2". An 1½" might work, but a homeowner won't have the equipment to perform a "tight pull".
