Drilling through loft conversion walls - through the timber or insulation?

I need to run some cable between two rooms at slightly different levels in a terrace house loft conversion. I know that there is insulation board between the walls as it was only built a few years ago.

Is it better to find a timber stud and drill through that from one room to the next or go through the insulation? I ask as I'm not sure if going through the board will lead to a lot of mess or damage or if there is a risk I'm unaware of.

The cable won't be running outside, the hole will be between internal wall to internal wall.

Thanks.

Drilling through the insulation won't be a problem, but bear in mind that when cables pass through insulation their current carrying capacity is reduced.
