Hi, new here and first time posting. We have just had our upstairs double glazing fitted and the man who fitted it left big gaps around the window frame and into the brick work. Its really obvious when you look at the house so really want them filled.

This is probably such an easy question, but just need some help. What sealant / filler / caulk should i use outside to fill these gaps.

Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks

First of all I would get on the phone to the person who fitted the windows and tell him you want it sorted out. No reputable window fitter would leave windows with big gaps around them.

If you really feel like you should be sorting the gaps yourself, go for something like Polycell Trade Exterior Filler or Dulux Trade Flexible Exterior Filler. Obviously the most important feature of the filler you use should be that it is waterproof.

When you say big gaps, can you be a bit more precise as to how big the gaps are. Are they the same size all round, are there reveals to be re-coated to the outside???

If the fitter left "big gaps" around the windows, and no further work is envisaged, then as advised above phone the fitter or company and advise them you want things put right in the first instance, sounds as though they are unfit for purpose and as such you have legal right on your side. First make every attempt to advise them of the problem in such a way as not to inflame them but get the work done to your satisfaction, then if no response, or an dismissive response comes from them you have done all you can to put right the situation without recourse.
By the way have you paid for the window(s) installation yet?...bosshogg:)

You must call the person/company who did this. or take help of some other responsible person, doing it yourself may leave you in more complex situation.

Expanding foam springs to mind, but as DiyEx says, call the guy who fitted them first.

You can use the expanding foam to quickly fill larger holes, which then gives you something solid to push against when you use plaster or filler to finish with.

Did the fitter advise that he will issue a FENSA certificate?, that's your back up
