Hey, do I need to insulate a garage floor?

I am converting the detached garage to a proper room.

The walls + roof will be insulated, the problem is I can't raise the floor much.

It is just concrete, so will probably put underlay and laminate on top.

Did you raise it? I'd be just as concerned about moisture than heat, but you could cut a 2x4 in half to get 2x2's. Cover the concrete with plastic. lay out a floor system, 16" on center, using the 2x2's and put 1-1/2" thick styrofoam insulation in between them. Cover with 1/2" OSB and lay your flooring. Even 3/4" thickness would be better than nothing. But main thing is the plastic vapor barrier regardless of anything else you may or may do.
