I am currently building a back deck. I accidently did not realize for a footing inspection the holes needed to be empty (My BAD), at least i only did two. Well anyways, of course the inspector came out to review and said the holes are not wide enough, they need to be 24x24, 12 inches deep...according to 2009 Building Code. Well two of the holes were poured with the post in them.... how do i make the hole bigger and be in code? Do we need to dig the entire concrete and post up? and replace? or, can we just make the hole bigger and pour more concrete once approved?
