I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the difference between a regular compression fitting spanner and a split ring compression spanner?
If creating a basic 22mm compression fitting which would be more useful?

Hi donkee
Depends a lot on the make of the fittings. Although they do tend to be similar, they are not exactly standardised. Also you may find some have hex nuts, and others may have octagonal.
my recommendation would be to get two adjustable spanners (you do need Two) such as those by Bahco. Why not do what most of us do, and use water pump pliers.
What's your project ? - Perhaps we could advise further
