Bosch dishwasher fault

Hello, my 8 year old dishwasher has developed a fault whereby the dial stops in the '3 o'clock' position. We can turn it and it will carry on with the wash cycle. However it doesn't seem to be washing well either. Any ideas as to what new parts I may need?

timer? have you checked other boards to see if it's a manu fault?
