Borehole has stopped delivering water

I have a borehole which supplies water for a garden sprinkler and tap system, that until recently seemed to be working fine. After leaving the house over winter, I tried the sprinklers on my return and it got water as usual, but I didn’t leave it running long. Now when I turn on the sprinkler or tap there is no water.

I have since discovered I can press a button on the control box and get water into the pressure vessel, and subsequently to the sprinklers, but after a few seconds the pressure dies again and the guage at the pressure vessel reads zero once more.

The system was there when I bought the property, so I guess it will be at least 6 years old. This is the first problem I have had with it other than I could have done with more pressure, but as I say it did work OK before.

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions you may have.
