Hi guys

I’m a plumber with 15 years experience but not much experience with oil boilers.A friend of mine asked me to look at their boiler which was puffing a lot of black smoke. I cleaned the chamber which was full of black soot and changed the nozzle .60 .60 and boiler seemed to run fine for a week. I was later informed he had been raising the back of the tank and filling the tank with 5 gallon drums each time.Do you think it’s probable that dirt in the lines is causing the smoke?I checked the pressure on oil pump is at 7.5 bar also which is about correct, Could the solenoid valve be leaking slowly into chamber ?thanks in advance
