My son has moved into a rural house with a septic tank system system. The soil pipe leading from the inspection cover to the septic tank appears to be blocke near the septic tan end, with something hard like a brick. The rods cannot pass this blockage, which is near the tank and about twenty metres from the inspection cover. Liquids can pass the blockage. however. The only possible solution seems to be digging out the pipe, ,cutting out a section with an angle grinder, and replacing it, with a plastic pipe insert. This will involve digging out a cubic metre of soil or so. Does anybody have suitable experience of this kind of situation, or could suggest a better way, or is aware of the possible problems we may encounter. A further complication is that the previous owner cleared the pipes with a long rope, with a plunger, which cleared out the system, rather than using drain rods. This rope protrudes at the upstream end, but has disappeared at the septic tank end. We found a similar system on the gey water system leading to a soakaway, and this took a full day to remove and clear out.
Thanks for any help.
