Hey there,
I'm going to this big party in the Black Rock Desert this fall and want to build a beacon to find my way home. Here's what I'm hoping to build:
A green beacon bright enough to be seen for 2-3 miles or more. I might need 2, if the LEDs are directional.
Beacon will be about 20-30' off the ground, mounted to or on a 5th wheel RV
Beacon will turn on at 8pm and off at 8am
Beacon will be powered by a 12v battery recharged by a solar panel.

So.... will this work? Can I get a beacon this bright, that will be self sustainable for 12 hours per day using a 100ah 12v deep cycle battery and a 100-150 watt solar panel?

I'm open to buying a beacon of some sort or building a beacon from a LED light. I'm also open to ideas about how to make the beacon pole. Maybe PVC pipes that I can screw together?

Any ideas or help appreciated!
