I noticed you put the tensioner on the slack side of the chain when the winch is pulling a load.....good! I see SO many people make their own "single-direction" devices (with roller chain, or belts) with the tensioner in the wrong position. Of course, with devices that require torque in either direction, you've no choice. However, I have seen (rare) some idlers/routing sheaves/gears that actually are "self-tightening" by the way their mounted to the frame....kind of neat to see.
