Hi Everyone,
I live in a Brooklyn apartment building. Our apartment has two radiators that we can turn on/off via a valve and two other pipes with steam vents (bathroom and kitchen) that get hot whenever the boiler is on (controlled by the landlord).
We have two issues:
1. All four units are very loud when the boiler turns on, they all make a very loud hissing noise. The boiler turns on and off throughout the day and more so at night. Can this be fixed by replacing the steam valves?
The second issue is a leak issue. One of our radiators is leaking as shown in the picture
. It isn't a big leak, but in addition to leaking water, it also makes a hissing noise from the leaking water coming into contact with the hot pipe. Is there an easy fix to this? Or should I get the landlord involved?
Thanks for your help,
Justin
