Out side my flat are some very rusty railings which cause nasty stains on the paint below. It's possible to scrub them off with a lot of elbow grease, but they come back pretty fast. The railings are pretty much all rust so there's no way of getting back to good metal, and I won't be able to pursuade the other freeholders to buy new ones, so I'm wondering what my best options.
Paint the area underneath black to reduce the appearance? Use gloss to make it easier to clean?
The neighbours have some sort of thick plastic coating over their railings. I'm not sure if that, or some other paint-on treatment would help as the rust seems to seep down from the inside as it were.
Anyone have any suggestions? : )
