Hello, we had these (red oak) floors put in about 4 years ago and recently noticed some black spots that were confined to approximately 5-6 feet x 1 foot area and would appreciate help in identifying what it may be? My first thought was mold/mould so I went to the basement so that I could look at the area below the floors and where the are several air ducts and pipes and the little of the wood that I saw looked clean and the drop-down ceiling tiles did not have water stains or any sign of moisture but if it's not mold, what is it?
I have included several photos, the first shows the a view of the area and the subsequent photos are close ups and Photoshop views of the small black spots.
