My central heating will not come on or go off with the programmer. Firstly it would not turn off and the house was 30 degrees. Now it won't go on and it is freezing! The heating engineer fitted a new pump two days ago. What do I do? Please help.

I had this problem recently, hold old is your boiler? I had to have the programmer changed which unfortunately is an expensive part (£150 plus labour £200)

You need to get your heating "engineer" back. The programmer times everything to come on or off - it also controls other critical parts of the system like diverter valves. Not enough information from you to hazard a guess. Combination boiler, system boiler??

David that sounds horribly expensive. If it was a separate i.e. not built into boiler, programmer, then £50 thereabouts for a programmer and if it's on a BG standard backplate, 15-minutes to change, 30 at most.

The boiler is only a couple of years old. It is a Baxi Solo 18E. It has a pipe thermostat Honeywell L641B1004. What temperature should that be set at? Both are in the garage.
