I replaced the ancient G8 furnace in my house with a high efficiency gas furnace this summer and now that the cold weather is here and the furnace is running alot I've discovered that the floor drain will not handle the amount of condensate. The floor is 5ft below grade and the drain is about 2 ft deep and 3 inches in diameter. The drain is pretty tight between the furnace and the HW tank so increasing its size or depth would be a challenge so I thought maybe a pump would be the way to go. Theres an abs wasewater drain line that goes through the utility room about 5 inches above the floor and I was wondering if theres a way to plumb the condensate line into the abs line without some sort of code violation.

(the abs line is actually 15 inches above the floor...not 5)

So it's gravity feed from the furnace to the floor drain and the floor drain backs up? A floor drain is perfect, I wouldn't connect to wastewater pipe
