Boiler thermocouple

My old Glow-Worm Spacesaver 80B Mark II boiler has become troublesome of late as it now shuts itself down (pilot light and all) within a few minutes of firing up - just as soon as the rads start to get warm!

Informal advice seems to point to the thermocouple as being the root of the problem but before I try and get a new one, would anyone out there care to offer an opinion as to whether it looks to be no longer fit for purpose from the photos here posted - or is visual evidence not significant here?

You are probably correct, there cannot be much more than the thermocouple to be worn out to cause this problem
My Philosophy is, if you can get spares for it, and the rest of the kit can be cleaned up, then go for it, You don't bury a person with a broken finger no matter how old they are
