Nails popping up

I am in an apartment so there is a limit to what I can and cannot do. I have hardwood floors and a few of the nails keep popping up. They have been tapped in by myself and have been "fixed" by the maintenance person several times (comes in taps them down - bills the owner of the building). I am looking for any suggestions on how to actually fix the problem in a way that is somewhat subtle.

Hi Lostvalleyguy
Obviously there must be some movement in the floor to cause this problem, and just tapping the nails in isn't going to do anything as they have lost their grip in the timber. "Somewhat subtle" is the problem. One solution may be to replace the nails with longer ones, or slightly thicker ones. another idea would be to screw the boards down, but with screws that have been rotated against a grinder to reduce the head diameter as far as possible.
A very difficult problem in a property you don't own.
