Dear forumites,
I am having my whole kitchen redone. The current vinyl floor is being ripped and the walls re-plastered. Mine is a floating sub-floor with floor boards. Once the new Kitchen cabinets are put in place, I will be left with 7sqm of empty open floor. I am going for a QuickStep Waterproof Laminate flooring. The reason for this choice of flooring is because we wanted the floor to be smooth without any texture/grain or bevel. Also, we wanted a oak effect wood floor to match other parts of the house. The laminate is 8mm thick and I am looking for 3mm thick underlay which can provide the highest possible thermal insulation. I have seen some sort of green fiber boards that were providing thermal insulation of 2.0 tog but these were of 5mm thick. The reason I need 3mm underlay is due to the design of the kitchen.
Any suggestions please? Thanks.
