Hi Folks,
We are interested in putting a raised floor over a small patch of our garage. We are building a small mud room and we want it to be on the same level as the interior, which is one step up. I'm guessing its an 8 inch rise.
Can anyone give me some basic tips? Is it as simple as framing under the plywood, then running some carpet? What do you think a good cost per square foot would be (not including the carpet)?
What is the best kind of base? Should we frame the area underneath, or should we find some material to layer up?
The garage floor can get some hydrostatic pressure in other areas of the garage, but not in that area. Do I need to use some kind of vapor barrier?
I'm assuming 3/4 inch ply is enough.
Thanks!
Michele
