Hi all.
I have an old (15yrs +) gas boiler supplying CH and HW in a sealed system.
The pressure vessel in the boiler went AWOL so I replaced it with an external PV in the return feed to the boiler.
On restarting the boiler fired up / cut out / fired up / cut out repeatedly at 3 - 5 second intervals.
Stripped out the outer casings, removed the combustion chamber room sealed front cover and did a test firing. It worked perfectly.
Replaced the room sealed cover and did another test firing and the cycling on / off began again. What the ?????
Began to undo the screws on the front cover and as soon as the bottom 2 were loosened the problem went away.
Any suggestions what may be failing or is it just "one of those crazy things"?
