remove metal strip on glass shower screen

Hi All

I want to remove a metal strip that I believe is glued (say
manufacturer) to a clear glass shower screen (toughened 8mm glass)
along the longest edge - it looks ugly and I want to replace it with a
white plastic strip.

Is there any way of removing this metal strip or would removal break
the glass?

Acetone might work and if it doesn't it will evaporate without damaging
anything.

Unless it is laminated glass, acetone may dissolve lamination along edge.

Thanks for the replies - I'm reasonably sure that its not a glass with
laminate but I wonder how strong the glue is likely to be and how the
metal would come off it first.

I presume that breaking toughened glass is pretty difficult ?

Has anyone attempted such a thing or will I be the first?

I would also love me to know if anyone has removed aluminium edging mine is a black shower screen and aluminium edging is so wide, I bought a flipper unit to silicone and slide on to the edge but aluminium is much to wide so I need to remove aluminium edging to add flipper grid as it only fits onto a 8 mm glass I have added my shower screen picture with dolphins and also a picture of the screen with the flipper grid attached I would just like to know if anyone has removed any aluminium edging successfully

...did you try using wd40?
pretty good at removing most adhesives.

should be gentle on the glass screen too
