I have just completed inclosing an addition in the rear of my house and I wonder if I should have the house re-tested for radon. I did it about five years ago and it was ok but my neighbor sold his place and it tested way high and that is just two doors up.

Radon gas comes from radium deposits in rock and soil that are randomly dispersed throughout the earth's crust. It is not uncommon that neighbors have widely varying readings. It's just a matter of luck. However, I have long suspected that the rock and sand used in the manufacture of concrete, as well as any imported fill used on a project can import radium containing materials and increase the radon levels . I have ABSOLUTELY NO scientific evidence to support this idea, but I've seen radon levels change on the before and after enough to make one wonder.
Best to test.
