Questons about tanning salon

Tanning salon, landlord says that he only wants one roof exhaust vent for
electric dryer, bath vent and spray tan booth. Nothing is explosive or
flammable, but I'm sure its not allowed, but he says it is, any thoughts?
Steve, your up on the IBC, am I correct that the IBC doesn't allow dryers
to be hooked up to anything, electric included, except multiple driers? What
about bath vents?

Also, is there a better way to vent besides using oversized B-vent with a
cap? Especially with a dryer, gas or electric, going out the roof?

Can *not* be vented with any other appliances, *must* be independent of all
other systems!!

***IMC Section 504 Clothes Dryer Exhaust***

504.1 Installation.

***...'Dryer exhaust systems shall be independent of all other
systems'...***

They also require the vertical riser to have a clean out.

Must have a back draft damper installed.

If venting more then 200 cfm, it is required to have make up air.

etc, etc, etc......

Better look at the section to make sure everything is up to snuff!!

KJpro,

Yep, I better order the newer code book, I was holding off because they were
always updating them, and Ohio had their own until a year ago. Our state is
getting in line with other states, it will take some time. This is good AND
bad in many area's.

On a vertical, the pipe is going to be outside the wall, so is a cleanout
still required? Also, how/where/what brand is available for a back draft
damper for a vertical dryer vent? Can B-Vent be used or do I need to go with
something else?

THanks
Richard

Order the Complete CD version and save money.
(the search option ROCKS!)

According to IMC 504.3, YES.

I think B-Vent is not used because the inner pipe of the "next"
section slips inside the inner pipe of the "previous" section if you
catch my drift. This is not a problem for normal venting gas
appliances. For a dryer, though, you're not just venting moist air but
a hefty dose of lint. The lint gets caught in the joints which face
the "wrong" way. Last I checked, code for dryers says especially no
screws penetrating the pipe and all joints must have the seam face
"away" from the direction of flow. That 2nd thing rules out B-Vent. I
guess a case could be made for running the B-Vent pipe backwards, but
I've never seen it done and of course the connectors, caps etc. would
all have to be the "opposite gender" which might not even be
available. So I guess this is why most folks go with the galv.

Here's something else you might need:

Company makes a pretty mean fart fan, range fan, radon fan etc.

Thanks for the GREAT links! They went into my favorites for the future.

I just got off the phone with the inspector, a great new guy. He's willing
to work with me due to the type of buisness. Don't need a back draft damper
because we are going to be possitive pressure 100% of the time. Can use
B-Vent if its oversized to the next larger pipe.

I was really fearful of opening a can of worms with the inspector and needed
to know about some of the things you gave me before I spoke with him.,

Thanks again :)

Hi,

A quick definition is getting a tan without sunbathing. It is achieved by using products containing DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which is an FDA-approved skin coloring agent. It will give your skin a tan color in 4 to 8 hours depending on the product you are using. LuxeBody Bronzing Mousse, the best natural tanning lotion is to be applied in circular motions using the tanning mitt for getting the best results. Then, the residue is to be used over drier areas like your hands, elbows, and feet.
