Oil Burner Circulator Issue

Hello, My buddy's circulator on his oil fired boiler is only running when the boiler fires up. He uses the boiler for domestic hot water and for hot water baseboard. He has one zone in his house. He just had his circulator replaced and we just replace his thermostat. He began having this issue when we put in the new Honeywell T87K1007 (Not 100% on model number) its a round version just for heating. He only has a red and white wire coming out of the wall. Before changing the thermostat the boiler was firing up for a few seconds then shutting off until the water circulated for awhile and then fired back up and ran until the water was at the shutoff temperature. Does anyone know what could be a possible problem to these issues? Thanks!
