no hot water in downstairs tap

hi i have hot water going through washing machine ok but no hot water
through the hot tap-is this an air lock or a washer problem with my hot
tap-cheers

You mean no water at all is coming out of the tap, or that the water coming
out of the hot tap is cold ?

If the problem is no water coming out of the tap, then I'd suspect that the
washer has fallen of the end of the head gear or the head gear itself has
worn and broken down. It could also be something has moved along the pipe
and is blocking it or that the water has been closed off by a valve under
the sink or somewhere.

If the problem is the water coming out of the tap is cold, then you might
find that pipework is mixed somewhere with cold to the storage tank and is
now syphoning water directly from the cold supply rather than the hot water
from the hot water cylinder.
