Hello:

Was wondering how in new house construction they line up the front of the electric (for the outlets & switches)gang boxes with the front surface of the plaster board.

Just curious how it is done so neatly, usually.

Guess it would be hard for anyone to explain in words.

Is there, perhaps, a web site that has some pix showing it being done, etc.
?

Thanks,
B.

There's no trick to it. The boxes have markings on the side for the different thicknesses of wallboard and most have little tabs/bumps that align the box with the face of the stud at the correct depth. The box can be set a little too deeply without a problem - when it sticks out the coverplate isn't flush with the wall and looks like hell.
