Mixer taps

Hi

How do I fix this leak on my tap?

I'm a bit worried about how tight the nuts are one the tap, I've tried
loosening the nuts but they seem to be fixed!
The left tap is the problem, if I push inward on the spindle ("the toothed
bit the tap pushes on to") the leak stops, so I'm assuming it's a worn
washer inside, but as I said I can't undo the damn thing.
Or is it a sealed unit?

The nuts aren't fixed - merely seized in place. A Mole wrench is not the
ideal tool - a proper hex ring spanner won't slip.

If it were me, I'd climb up onto the sink and stand on the spanner..

"Thanks"... So it will definitely unscrew? What type of washer do I need to
get?

Funny thing is. I don't know where the stop tap is!.. I'm sure it must be
behind the back of the unit somewhere, or under the stairs. If not I'll turn
off from the street. I'll make sure it's mine though, otherwise Mrs Smith
won't be pleased if she's douching her particulars in the shower.. :))

There are a few differnt types of tap washer but I would guess it will be
like this one due to the apparent age of the tap,

"Only £3.49p" !!...Bloody hell!...Don't want to be labelled a skinflint, but
I was expecting about 10p, and there'd still be 9p profit in that for them.
Why don't these places just sell them singularly in bucket loads?
Rapid Hardware in Liverpool used to sell nuts, bolts, screws...etc by
singular or by weight, I went there last year only to find they now have
them in silly little packets or boxes £££'s "Kerrching" ...What a shame.

Rant over :)) Ta, John

That is for 100 though, so only 3.5p each. That qty is really for the trade
not DIY. If you go to B&Q, Homebase, local hardware shop etc, they will
sell you a smaller qty (3 or 5 maybe) but the individual price will be
higher than 3.5p obviously.

Cheers

John
98p for 5 at B&Q.
