Help on building a pitched roof in the UK

Hi

I'm currently self building a kitchen extension and I was wondering if
anybody could point me in the direction of some websites, drawings or
information on constructing a pitched roof using roof tiles as a decorative
feature (as the pitch is only 10 degrees). I've consulted building regs and
got some information from them but of course they don't build it for me, I'm
not a beginner but as you can guess I've not done this type of roof before.

Thanks for any help

I'm not sure what you mean when referring to tile as a decorative element.
10 degrees is roughly 2:12 which is too shallow for tile roofing.

Hi All

Sorry if I didn't make myself very clear, according to the building regs a
tiled roof needs to be at least 15 degrees in order to accommodate most if
not all roof tiles, anything less than that and there is a chance that rain
could get in. What I therefore have to do is lay the joists in the usual
manner then the breathable membrane, then rather that just putting on the
roof bats and then the tiles, you have to put on an cover of chipboard then
a felt liner then two rows of roof bats running along the length of the
joists and in the normal way (so it ends up like a cris cross pattern), in
effect I'm creating a pitched felt roof, the tiles are in effect just for
decoration (even though they will probably do the job of keeping the weather
out on all but the worst weather days). After that all I have to do is
fasten the roof tiles to the roof bats as normal then complete the flashing.
What I need to know is how to fix the roof tiles, I've done roofs before but
not ones with tiles on, I'm also using code 4 lead flashing and I want to
know how to fix that as well. Any useful websites or help would be much
appreciated.

Sorry for any confusion

Chris
