What do I need to connect ceiling fan to be fitted in bedroom?
I can access wiring to existing light fitting in the loft where I 'll be
locating fan. There no earth points available in loft as far as I can see,
is it allowed to fit earth point clamp to water pipe?
Thanks
Kenneth

There should be an earth wire on the cables to the existing light. If there
is not then you may have old wiring and should consider getting an
electrician in to check the system and consider a rewire.

You are not allowed to use pipes as an earth for any circuits. The worst
case senario if you do use a pipe for an earth is that a fault on the light
fitting may make your taps become live in the bathroom. Also, it is very
likely that in a house with no earth in the lighting circuit there will be
no supplementary bonding and so the problem is compounded.
